Among men, Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini, Rajat Chauhan and Mohan Bhardwaj and women’s Avneet Kaur, Muskan Kirar, Priya Gurjar and Ragini Marko topped the mixed selection trials that concluded in Sonipat on Wednesday.
National champions Priyansh, Bhagwan Das, C. Srithar and Sangampreet Bisla were the next quartet among the men. Pragati, Srishti Singh, Madhura Dhamangaonkar and triple World Championship silver medalist V. Jyoti Surekha finished fifth and eighth among women.
Like recurve archers, mixed archers also had to go through a rigorous selection process that tested their consistency in performance while achieving high scores through multiple elimination rounds.
The selection was made for four World Cups, the World Games and the Asian Games. The top four will participate in the first three World Cups and the Asian Games, while the bottom four will take part in the fourth World Cup. The top two will compete in the World Games.
Archers can be changed if one experiences a decline in one’s performance in the first three World Cups.
