He said, ‘Congress has won the semi-finals by defeating BJP in the by-elections. Now we will win the assembly elections in December next year. Congress members are excited to continue the campaign momentum after the recent victory. We are making the public aware about the wrong policies of the BJP, which have given rise to inflation, unemployment and corruption and have created difficulties for the people of the state. It won the recent by-elections by uniting the party, which had been plagued by factionalism after taking over the reins in 2019.

“The people of the state have rejected the BJP and accepted the Congress in the bypolls. The entire cadre of the party is motivated now and wants to ensure that the BJP is uprooted from power in 2022. I have already started the padyatra to visit all the constituencies where we are not winning for the last few years. The aim is to understand the reasons for our weakness and then formulate a strategy to strengthen the party. There are around 22 assembly constituencies where we are a bit weak and I will be visiting all these constituencies in a phased manner in the next few months. In the first phase, I will undertake padyatra in 13 constituencies, four of which I have already covered in the last few days,” said Mr. Rathore Hindu on Friday.

The ruling BJP in Himachal Pradesh suffered a major electoral setback when its party’s candidates lost all three assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency to the Congress by-polls.

Apart from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, Congress won in Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai.
