Congress is not a fascist party, there is room for difference of views: Rahul Gandhi

Claiming that the Congress is not a fascist party, Rahul Gandhi on 16 December said that there is room for differences in the party and that the party’s tradition is not to shut anyone down.

Addressing a press conference in Rajasthan on the occasion of the conclusion of the 100th day of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said that the main issue of the Congress party is that the voice of the grassroots workers should be heard.

He said, “And as far as this rhetoric is concerned, it is for the press. You people make fun of it, it sells your papers. But there is no problem in our organizational structure.”

“Our party is not a fascist, dictatorial party. We are open to discussion and debate. We tolerate it. And it is not only about Rajasthan. It has been the tradition of the Congress that if any party leader wants to say something So we don’t.” Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Don’t scare them and lock them up. Obviously, the disagreement should not cause major damage to the party. And when the press wants to say something, we do not intimidate them at all.

Stating that it is a false narrative that the Congress is ineffective and retreating, Gandhi said, “”Mark my words, the BJP is about to be taken down by the Congress because we are the party that will not give up the fight.

On the exit of several Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi said, “Their departure is welcome as they cannot fight the BJP.” The more the better.”

“I will not say that the Congress did not commit any mistake in the past. I also feel that the Congress leaders, including me, distanced themselves from the public. This distance is not physical distance but pain distance. In our journey, we Can feel the pain,” Rahul Gandhi said.
