Congress leaders are not allowed to visit irrigation project sites in Telangana. Hyderabad News – Times of India

Congress members took to the streets to protest against the TRS government and the police not being allowed to visit the flood-affected areas and irrigation project sites.

Hyderabad: A team of Congress members led by Congress Legislature Party leader Bhatti Vikramarka was not allowed to proceed towards the Kaleshwaram project site, where the pump house of the mega project was submerged due to flood waters recently.
The team was also not allowed to visit the Dummugudem project site. The police stopped them and cited security reasons and the possible threat of Maoists not allowing them at the project site.
Congress members staged a road dharna and raised slogans against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the police and the TRS government. “It is the responsibility of the opposition party (Congress) to inspect and point out irregularities in projects built with public money. There was no terrorist or anti-social element in the Congress delegation. Police stopping Congress leaders from visiting the Kaleshwaram project site only exposes that there is corruption in it,” alleged Bhatti Vikramarka. The police took the Congress members into custody.
The Congress team led by Bhatti is on a two-day visit to the flood-affected areas in and around the Godavari river in Bhadradri, Kothagudem, Bhupalpally and other districts, to visit the Dummugudem project and Kaleshwaram project among other project sites in different districts. .
TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Gaur said the KCR-led TRS government should have no problem in allowing the Congress team to visit Kaleshwaram and other project sites, if there is no irregularity or corruption.
He demanded, “The state government should send its delegation along with the Congress team to show the project sites, otherwise the Congress will launch a state-wide agitation.”
