New Delhi: Names of Congress leaders of Karnataka – Siddaramaiah, L. Hanumanthaiah and HC Mahadevappa – appeared on the poster of an event organized by the India-China Friendship Association (ICFA) to be held on Sunday.
According to posters of the event running on social media, the trio was to attend a symposium on “Intervention of US Imperialists in the Internal Affairs of the People’s Republic of China” and “Chinese Photographic Exhibition”. ,
While former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was reportedly supposed For being the “chief guest”, Mahadevappa, the former deputy CM of the state, was supposed to be the “guest of honour”. Hanumanthaiah was supposed to speak at an event that, according to the poster, JD(S) MLA from Karnataka K. Srinivasa Gowda, who is also the chairman of the ICFA-Karnataka chapter.
Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong and Consul General Kong Jianhua were also invited as guests and their names also appeared on the posters.
Sharing a picture of the poster, BJP spokesperson Tejinder Bagga attacked the Congress calling them an “agent of China”.
However, the three Congress leaders on Saturday said that they have declined the invitation to the event.
siddaramaiah tweeted“I declined the invitation of the India-China Friendship Association to participate in their event. It is surprising to see my name (in the invitation) despite being declined. I refused to participate as my party and My position is against the agenda of the programme.
Hanumanthaiah too tweeted a similar statement.
as done mahadevappa: “I hereby clarify that I have not been informed about this program and no consent was obtained regarding my presence at the event prior to printing of this invitation. Since the topic of the seminar is irrelevant, I have previously I have decided not to attend it. That’s why I am not attending this seminar (sic).”
feedback On this controversy, ICFA Secretary V. Bhaskaran said that the seminar has been cancelled.
“Since this issue caused an unnecessary controversy, we canceled the seminar, but the Chinese photo exhibition will be held as scheduled,” he said.
‘Saw secret pictures of Rahul with Chinese envoys’ says BJP
BJP, the ruling party in Karnataka, hit out at the Congress for allegedly participating in such an event.
“We have seen secret pictures of Rahul Gandhi with Chinese envoys in the past but this is new and huge. Congress is an agent of China. It’s official now. Now you can understand why Congress always targets Indian Army, supports tukde-tukde gang, Batla House terrorists and anti-nationals (sic)”, Tejinder Bagga said in a tweet.
“If anyone had any doubts that Congress works for China, it will clear their doubts. If America is interfering in its internal affairs, why would Congress support China? Is this agreement signed by Rahul Gandhi with the Communist Party of China the reason behind this support to China? (sic)”, wrote BJP leader CT Ravi.
