NS Congress Working Committee The (CWC) during its meeting on Saturday passed three resolutions on the country’s political situation, inflation and the ‘satanic attack’ on India’s farmers, party leader KC Venugopal said.
He said that under this, the party will organize a mass movement at the grassroots level across the country from November 14 to 29.
In addition, Congress will organize a massive training program for all its workers and leaders, where they will be exposed to the party’s ideologies, policies, expectations of a Congress worker, messages at the grassroots level, election management, failure of the present government and campaigning. Will be trained in combat, Venugopal said. .
He also informed that the CWC approved the schedule of organizational elections on Saturday. The elections will be held from 21 August 2022 to 20 September 2022.
Venugopal also said that the election of PCC Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Treasurers, PCC officers and AICC members will be held between July 21 and August 20, 2022 by the PCC General Assembly.
This comes even as senior Congress party leaders said that it has been unanimously decided that Rahul Gandhi should be made the party chief.
Congress leader Meira Kumar was quoted as saying by the news agency, “There were talks in the CWC about Rahul Gandhi becoming the party president and everyone unanimously took his name.” ANI.
“Discussions took place about Congress party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. Country’s border is not secure, inflation is high, communal atmosphere is being disturbed… The atmosphere of the country is worrying and what strategy is Congress party talking about. was adopted in this regard,” she said.
The party’s poor performance in various subsequent assembly elections has led a group of leaders, including party veterans, called the G-23, to question the leadership.
“There was no discussion regarding G-23,” Meira Kumar said.
Congress leader Ambika Soni had also told reporters on Saturday that “everyone” in the party wants Rahul Gandhi to become the party president.
“Everyone unanimously agreed that whether he (Rahul Gandhi) will become (party president) or not, it depends on him. Everyone is of the opinion that Rahul Gandhi should become the party president.”
After this, Rahul Gandhi said that he would consider becoming the party president again.
Further, he said that he needs clarity about the ideology from the party leaders. Some members of Congress are of the opinion that he should be made caretaker till the elections.
