The Congress has decided to observe ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas’ on November 20 and will organize victory rallies on behalf of farmers across the country to mark the Centre’s announcement on Friday to repeal three controversial agriculture laws. The Congress leaders will also meet the families of over 700 farmers killed during the agitation and organize candle marches and rallies for the peace of the departed souls.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal has asked all state units to organize such rallies and candle marches at state, district and block levels on Saturday. In a letter to the party’s state unit chiefs, Venugopal said the abrogation of three “draconian” agricultural laws is a victory for the farmers and the result of a year-long relentless battle of farmers’ protest, their sacrifice and a united opposition.
