Soon after the announcement of the candidates, actress-turned-politician Nagma Morarji and the party’s national spokesperson Pawan Khera also expressed their disappointment over the non-nomination.
Nagma questioned the candidature of minority cell chief Imran Pratapgarhi, while Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam said the suppression of talent was a “suicidal move” for the party.
A total of 10 Congress leaders including Ajay Maken, Randeep Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik and P Chidambaram have filed nominations for the elections to the Upper House.
Pramod Tiwari – A Brahmin face from UP, was nominated from Rajasthan. Whereas, Imran Pratapgarhi, a minority face from UP, is the candidate from Maharashtra. The only woman candidate is Ranjeet Ranjan, who hails from Bihar. She will contest from Chhattisgarh.
