The Madras High Court has directed the Director of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMS) to consider the plea of a doctor’s wife, who suffered during the first wave of COVID-19 in 2020, to provide her a suitable job. Compassion for under the ground.
Justice Abdul Quddoj recently gave this direction while disposing of a writ petition filed by BE VR Divya, BE in Computer Science.
In case, the grievance of the petitioner has not been redressed by the authorities even after he has reached the seniority to consider his application, the petitioner is once again given liberty to approach this Court if they (the authorities) have already Fail to follow through on the given undertaking. The judge said that this court is of the opinion that on receipt of the application he will be given a suitable job.
The petitioner’s husband, a doctor, had died in November 2020 while on Covid duty. He had submitted an application to the concerned authority for compassionate appointment in January 2021. Since the request of the petitioner has not been considered till date, he has filed the present petition.
A counter affidavit was filed by the concerned authority stating that as and when the application of the petitioner on the basis of his seniority is received, his request for compassionate appointment would be considered.
