Logically, we all know we’re going to die, but emotionally we feel invincible
IIt’s taboo but we all think about it. We are told that it is not a good idea to even talk or think about death.
We are all going to die. Death is a shadow that follows all the time. The recent pandemic had reminded us that death is always near, one can face it, even the very next moment, it is nothing to fear, and it is a fate we will all share.
Logically, we all know we’re going to die, but emotionally we feel invincible, and so we waste our time complaining instead of being grateful enough. It’s all because we don’t have a correct notion of death.
If you were to die tomorrow, what would you do on your last day in this world? Would you rather waste your time thinking about the future or do something that will bring you deep fulfillment and make your “now” more enjoyable.
Contemplating death puts things in perspective. We are here to experience life. It is exactly like a game of football. The match begins when we are born, and when the final whistle blows, it is all over. There’s no point in complaining about the weather, about your teammates not playing right. All you can do is go out there and do your best to score goals.
Why not use the life you have and create something amazing?
Reflecting on death can help you understand how precious this present moment is. The present never comes back. The future is just a concept; It never exists, what exists is now.
Awareness of death makes you feel liberated. Why wouldn’t you do something without thinking about what others would think of you? You are going to die one day. On that day, the things you fear don’t matter. All your problems don’t matter, so spend your time doing something that makes you happy.
The more you think about inevitable death, the more free you will be. Thinking about death makes you feel grateful for everything you have, everything you think about, and all the experiences.
Look around for a moment, look at the trees, the birds and the people. There will come a time when everything you see now will no longer exist, so every single moment spent with her is precious.
We’re all headed for death, so why not say things you never dared to say, forgive those with whom you’ve had negative experiences in the past, and be grateful to those who have always been with you. Be there and change your life positively.
Being aware of your mortality is an awakening experience. It can help you live your life authentic and fully, and maybe for the first time ever, you will be truly free.
