However, compared to the delta variant, the new coronavirus variant, Omicron, is said to cause no direct damage to the lungs. Basically, like a common cold or flu, the highly contagious form infects the upper respiratory tract, causing mild symptoms such as sore throat, sneezing, body aches, headache.

The delta variant, on the other hand, caused acute respiratory complications in some people and directly affected the lungs, causing severe symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain and low blood oxygen levels.

Additionally, according to reports, the Omicron variant is said to be 4 times more permeable than the delta, which is why experts believe that it may become the most dominant strain.
