CDC recommends less COVID isolation, quarantine for everyone

US health officials on Monday cut isolation restrictions for Americans who catch the coronavirus from 10 to five days, and similarly shortened the time close contacts need to be quarantined.

Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the guidance was in keeping with mounting evidence that people with the coronavirus are most contagious two days before and three days after they develop symptoms.

The decision was driven by the recent increase in COVID-19 cases induced by the Omicron variant.- AP

Delhi government may discuss implementation of GRAP today

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Monday issued orders related to the imposition of night curfew in the capital, in view of the steady spurt in COVID cases.

This comes even as Delhi government sources said Health Minister Satyendar Jain is scheduled to chair a meeting on Tuesday on the implementation of various provisions of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for the rising trend in COVID-19 cases.

France further tightens COVID measures, but no curfew on New Year’s Eve

French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron version of COVID-19, the government is reducing the delay of the third booster shot from four to three months, but with no curfew for New Year’s Eve. Will not done.

Mr Castex also said that from Monday and for the next three weeks, all public gatherings would be limited to 2,000 people for indoor events and 5,000 people for outdoor events.

3,481 children orphaned during the pandemic to get benefits under PM Cares for Children scheme

The government on Monday said that out of 6,098 applications received under the ‘PM Cares for Children’ scheme, 3,481 children orphaned during the COVID-19 pandemic have been approved as eligible for its benefits.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development said in a statement that according to the PM Cares for Children portal, the total applications registered till December 24 are 6,098, out of which 3,481 applications have been approved by the district magistrates. It also said that post office accounts have been opened for 3,275 beneficiaries under the scheme. PTI

Center advises polling states to expedite COVID-19 vaccination

The Center on Monday advised polling states to expedite the COVID-19 vaccination of all eligible population for the first dose and ensure that the same is given to them for the second dose.

Voting states were advised to rapidly increase testing to ensure that the infected are quickly identified for the timely initiation of public health response measures, and due to reduced testing. There doesn’t seem to be a sudden increase in numbers, apart from making sure there is recommended COVID appropriate behavior. are strictly followed and adequate measures are taken for their effective enforcement. Adolescents will only get Covaxin from January 3

A note issued by the Health Ministry on Monday said that adolescents aged 15-17, who would be eligible for vaccination from January 3, would be given only one dose of Covaxin.

Healthcare workers and frontline workers who have received two doses will be eligible for a “precautionary dose” from January 10, 2022, although here, preference will be given to those with a gap of at least 39 weeks since the second dose.
