Coronavirus omicron variant mild symptoms: With mild omicron symptoms, is prolonged COVID a possibility? Explained

Over the course of a few weeks, Omicron has infiltrated the walls of several countries, becoming the most influential tension ever. While the Omicron variant is said to have a higher infectivity rate, preliminary studies have shown that the newer variant is significantly milder. According to leading doctors and experts, symptoms like mild fever, sore throat, extreme body aches, night sweats, vomiting and loss of appetite indicate the omicron type.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the most common omicron symptoms are cough, fatigue, congestion and runny nose.

Noting that most of the symptoms are similar to those of a cold, many people have come to the fore and said that the infection caused by the new variant may look like a more common cold or flu.

However, in a recent update, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned against taking the ‘worry type’ lightly and said that Omicron is not a common cold.

In a tweet, WHO epidemiologist Dr Maria Van Kerkhove said, “Although some reports show Omicron has a lower risk of hospitalization than Delta, there are still many people infected, ill in hospital and O’Micron (and Delta) are dying.”
