Coronavirus: The duration of your sore throat can tell whether you have COVID-19. The Times of India

At a media briefing on Wednesday, World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus talked about a new sub-version of the highly permeable Omicron variant of COVID-19, now detected in India.

The WHO chief also highlighted the sudden increase in coronavirus cases across the world. “Globally the reported cases have increased by almost 30 per cent in the last two weeks. Four of the WHO’s six sub-regions saw an increase in cases in the last week,” he said.

“In Europe and America, BA.4 and BA.5 are driving waves. A new sub-lineage of BA.2.75 has also been detected in countries like India, which we are following,” he said.

Given that the Global Health Agency has come forward to emphasize the situation, it is important that we take the necessary precautions to contain the spread of the virus.

With the change in seasons and many other viral infections of the monsoon, it can be difficult to tell the symptoms apart. However, if you have a sore throat, experts believe that the duration of your symptoms may tell whether you have COVID-19.
