India on Tuesday reported 27,487 new coronavirus infections, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. As of 08:00 am on Wednesday, the total cases have risen to 3,33,15,512, while the deaths have risen to 4,43,528.
The country has also given 75,22,38,324 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine so far, in which more than 78 lakh people got jobs on Tuesday.

Jharkhand
Jharkhand allows visitors to religious places, offline classes
The Jharkhand government on Tuesday allowed entry of visitors to religious places, including the famous Baidyanath Dham temple in Deoghar, and allowed setting up of Durga Puja pandals, subject to compliance with the COVID-19 protocol.
The government also allowed offline classes for all undergraduate and postgraduate classes in colleges.
Offline classes have been allowed in schools from classes 6 to 8, while all sports activities have been allowed to be conducted without spectators. Bars and restaurants were also allowed to open till 11:00 pm.

DDMA has not yet called for re-opening of schools for staging Ramlilas, junior classes
The apex body of COVID management in the national capital, DDMA, has not taken any decision on allowing schools to reopen for junior classes and staging Ramlilas in public places, amid rising demands from various quarters.
The latest Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) order, listing prohibited and permitted activities under a phased reopening after the Covid-induced lockdown, will expire at midnight on Wednesday.
Several private schools have demanded that the Delhi government allow students of classes 6-8 to physically attend classes, claiming that the coronavirus situation in the city has improved significantly.

Vaccination campaign in Hassan on Friday
The Hassan district administration has planned a COVID-19 vaccination drive aimed at covering 80,000 people on September 17. It will set up booths on the lines of Pulse Polio campaign across the district.
Deputy Commissioner R. Girish said on Tuesday that over 1,200 booths would be set up. Final year students of nursing colleges will also participate along with the employees of Health and Family Welfare Department.
The DC appealed to the public to use the campaign for vaccination against COVID-19. “We can fight COVID-19 by getting vaccinated. The vaccine is safe and there is no need to worry. Those who have not yet vaccinated, go to their nearest booth and get them vaccinated.

Govt asked to decide on plea to allow visitors at places of worship
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the Aam Aadmi Party government to decide on a representation seeking permission to visit religious places, provided COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed.
A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh gave this direction while hearing a petition by NGO Distress Management Collective.
“The prolonged prohibition on visiting religious places has become a matter of distress not only for the religious leaders but also for the believers at large,” the petition said.

Night curfew in Andhra Pradesh extended till 30 September
The state government has extended the night curfew imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection till September 30. The decision was taken in a review meeting of the Health Department chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the state’s daily positivity rate was 2.23% as against the weekly positivity rate of 2.31%. The recovery rate was steady at 98.6% and 10,541 secretariats have reported zero cases.
Madhya Pradesh
Government plans to vaccinate 32.9 lakh persons PM Modi’s birthday
The Madhya Pradesh government has set a target to vaccinate 32.90 lakh people against Kovid-19 on September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An official gave this information on Tuesday.
To speed up vaccination and cover all those who have not been vaccinated yet, a “Mega Abhiyan 3.0” will be launched from September 17 as per the directions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a government spokesperson said.
Dr. Santosh Shukla, Director (Vaccination) of National Health Mission said that the state is aiming to vaccinate 32.90 lakh people on that day.

Chief Minister provided assistance of ₹ 10 lakh to the families of the Kovid warriors
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday handed over a check of ₹10 lakh as financial assistance to the wife of Amit Singh Damiya, who died in the line of COVID duty.
The assistance was provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and received by Dr. Damiya’s wife Manmeet Alang at the Chief Minister’s residence.
“Dr. Amit performed duty relentlessly during COVID-19 and served the patients with full dedication. I met his family today and handed over a check of ₹10 lakh to the family as financial assistance. This is a kind of help from our side. A small gesture,” Mr Kejriwal said.
