Court closes case against BJP leader Vijayvargiya as MP govt does not decide on sanction of prosecution till 17 years

A special court here has closed a case against BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya in an alleged ‘pension scam’ in Indore Municipal Corporation as the Madhya Pradesh government did not sanction him and others to be tried for 17 years. .

Complainant KK Mishra, president of the media department of MP Congress, has now moved the High Court against the delay in granting approval. Special court judge for cases against MPs and MLAs Mukesh Nath on Monday ordered closure of proceedings against Vijayvargiya and others, citing lack of sanction for prosecution.

But if the government approves, the complainant can go to court again, the judge said. The complaint before the court alleged that when Vijayvargiya was the mayor of Indore from 2000 to 2005, the IMC paid the required pension to the destitute, widows and disabled persons through cooperative institutions instead of national banks and post offices as per rules.

It alleged that those who were ineligible or dead or even non-existent persons got pension, causing a loss of Rs 33 crore to the government. Mishra told PTI on Friday that after 17 years of trial, the state government has shown that it wants to save corrupt people.

His lawyer Vibhor Khandelwal said that he has filed a petition before the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the non-approval.
