Even for the lunch break, students are being allowed to eat outside only in small batches and teachers are also encouraged to sit in open spaces on campus instead of in staff rooms,” he said.

For state board students, the Directorate of Government Examinations had announced in December that revision exams for class 10 and 12 would begin from January 19.

“Keeping in mind the safety measures, we are working on completing the parts and ensuring that the students are ready to take the public exams as and when they are scheduled. These revision exams are the first major exams these students will take as there was no half-yearly and quarterly exams in this academic year,” said the principal of a government school in Chennai.
