COVID 19 Vaccine: How to book slots for Under-18 beneficiaries through Aarogya Setu App

Children in the age group of 15 to 18 years are now eligible for the COVID 19 vaccine in India. News18 learned that children can choose between Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Zydus Cadila vaccines; However, only the former is available at this time. The registration process started yesterday, 1st January and the vaccination drive will start tomorrow, 3rd January. Similar to adult immunization drive, eligible citizens can book through Co-Win portal which is integrated in Aarogya Setu App and UMANG App. As of now, third-party apps like Paytm, HealthifyMe, and more are yet to add an option to book a COVID-19 vaccine for children.

Teenagers can register individually online, or adults can add them as beneficiary as they are already registered on the platform. Apart from Aadhar card they can also use their student ID card for registration. Here’s how you can register for the COVID-19 vaccine through the Aarogya Setu app.

step 1: Open the app and select the CoWIN option on the top right.

step 2: Select Vaccination (Login/Registration) and Log in with Mobile Number.

step 3: If you are a new user, you can select ‘Book Slot’ or add as a beneficiary.

step 4: Provide details which include photo ID type (you can select student photo ID card), photo ID number and name of beneficiary as per photo ID card.

Step 5: Select gender and year of birth.

Step 6: Once you press submit, it will take you back to the beneficiary page and select the calendar icon next to the name of the newly added beneficiary.

Step 7: Enter pincode and date. Users can choose between free and paid options to find more centers.

Step 8: Once you have selected the centre, the app shows the result based on availability and date.

The new guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry have specified that “those whose year of birth is 2007” or earlier, they will be eligible. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted EUA to indigenously developed Covaxin for children above 12 years of age. There are some conditions, but more details are awaited.
