Amid rising COVID-19 cases in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting via video conferencing with Chief Ministers to assess the health situation across the country.
Apart from senior officials of the Prime Minister and Prime Minister’s Office, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and officials of their respective ministries are also present in the meeting.
Several Chief Ministers including Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Yogi Adityanath, Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab participated in the talks.
“Despite managing the COVID crisis well as compared to other countries, we can now see a spurt in cases in the states. We have to be alert. It is clear that the COVID challenge is not over yet,” PM Modi said after interacting with state chief ministers, tweeted ANI.
India recorded 2,927 fresh infections in a day, taking the tally to 4,30,65,496, while the active caseload rose to 16,279, according to data from the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The death toll has risen to 5,23,654 with 32 more deaths, data updated at 8 am.
PM Modi has already held several meetings with chief ministers and even district magistrates to understand the ground situation.
