Covid surge: Give ‘top priority’ to augmenting health infrastructure, government to states

The Center today again asked the States and Union Territories to initiate exercise to resume preparedness against another possible surge in COVID-19 cases.

“With reference to Secretary (HFW)’s DO letter dated 01.01.2022 regarding emphasis on augmentation of health infrastructure in view of increase in COVID cases, it is expected that re-establishment of field/temporary hospital facilities / to restart the world, said a fresh letter issued by Aarti Ahuja, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Ahuja said that the states and union territories at their level may review the matter regularly to ensure that there is no shortage of hospitalization by the state or union territory.

The letter states that states and UTs are expected to develop “Covid-19 free care centers in hotel rooms and other similar accommodations, which are linked to dedicated COVID hospitals for the care of mild or asymptomatic cases “.

Additionally, it is imperative that in case of sudden increase in the number of cases, production and maintenance of logistics supplies like testing reagents and kits (for both RTPCR and rapid antigen testing) should be in sufficient supply to avoid any stock shortage. is done.

Ahuja urged the states and union territories to take these “preliminary measures” on top priority and with regular monitoring.
