covid version news: next covid version likely to be more contagious; WHO | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: omicron will not be the final version and the next version of the concern is likely to be more permeable, World Health Organization Said, cautions against complacency in following COVID-appropriate protocols.
“Omicron won’t be the last version you’ll hear us speak about. The next type of concern will be more appropriate and by that we mean it will be more permeable because it has to get ahead of what’s currently going on. The big question is whether future versions will be more or less serious,” said Maria Van KerkhoveCOVID-19 technical leadership at WHO.

The WHO also said it was likely that more immunity would survive, making existing vaccines less effective against new variants, even as it insisted on vaccination to protect against serious illness and deaths. “We don’t want to be in that situation. So, we want to make sure that we reduce the spread,” she said.
“We expect that with the right interventions, the prevalence of COVID-19 will be reduced. But even within those prevalences, flare-ups will occur in people who are not protected from the vaccine or who have low immunity,” Kerkhov said.
She also warned that the world could see seasonal patterns of increasing infections, as the coronavirus is a respiratory pathogen.
