Indian cuisine is a vast amalgamation of culinary influences and traditions from all different regions of the country. It offers food for every palate that caters to South Indian cuisines, from bold and rich North Indian cuisine to light. Each region has its own unique cuisine and one such region which boasts of royal tradition and rich culture through its cuisine is Rajasthani cuisine. Known for its extensive culinary offerings, Rajasthani cuisine has become a favorite among foodies over the years.
Hence, keeping in mind the huge popularity of Rajasthani cuisine, Crowne Plaza Mayur Vihar has brought the royal flavors of Rajasthan to Delhi NCR with a 10-day food festival that offers the best of culinary heritage of the state. Inspired by the royal kitchens of the region, the ‘Royal Flavors of Rajasthan’ food festival was organized by Chef Ram Prasad Gurjar. The food festival is a celebration of all things Rajasthani as the restaurant is decorated in traditional decor with lively umbrellas and servers in traditional padgi. The Rajasthani fervor is further enhanced with traditional folk music, puppet shows and folk dances.
The specially prepared menu includes traditional Rajasthani dishes like Dal Bati Churma, Lal Maas, Murg Shekavati, Mutton Banjara, Junglee Mas, Gutta Pulao, Gulab Jamun Ki Sabzi, Paneer Papad, Malai Ghevar and much more. The first dish to mark our Rajasthani culinary journey was Dal Bati Churma. Crispy masala baati topped with mirchi ka kuta, malai mogar dal with garlic chutney, gulab churma- was the perfect start to the main course. Some of our favorite dishes from the main course were Murg Shekavati, Mutton Banjara, Gutta Pulao and Gulab Jamun Ki Sabzi. With just the right amount of spices and plenty of gravy – the Mutton Banjara was absolutely sinful. We recommend eating this dish with freshly made hot makki ki roti. If you are a chaat-lover, try this crispy kachori with sweet and spicy chutney.
We ended our royal feasts on a sweet note with some delicious sweets like Malai Ghevar, Paneer Jalebi and Besan Ke Ladoo. Creamy and luscious with a dollop of malai, the ghevar was top notch and sweet lovers absolutely must try it.
If you are in Delhi NCR and love to indulge in traditional cuisines, then you must visit this food festival. We promise that the elaborate Rajasthani cuisine will not let you down.
