Crypto Platform Zipmex Will Start Issuing Bitcoin, Ether To Customers
Cryptocurrency exchange Zipmex will issue Ethereum and Bitcoin tokens starting this week, a spokesperson said on Monday, allowing 60 percent of its customers to retrieve their digital assets following the suspension of withdrawals from its Z Wallet product.
Singapore-based Zipmex, which also operates in Thailand, Australia and Indonesia, in July blocked withdrawals from Z Wallet, saying it had $53 million worth of cryptocurrency exposed to Babel Finance and Celsius.
The company said that Ethereum will be released on Thursday and Bitcoin on August 16. Last week it allowed the withdrawal of digital coins XRP, ADA and SOL.
Late last month Zipmex said it was in talks with investors for potential funding.
The Thai Securities Exchange Commission said on Saturday that it is collecting further information about affected clients and is working with client representatives on the issue.
