New Delhi: Amidst the increasing cyber crime in the city,… Delhi Police Will set up a dedicatedcyber police Stations in every district to effectively deal with such cases in the national capital.
The Home Department of the Delhi government has issued a notification to set up such a facility in all 15 police districts.
According to officials, police stations are likely to start functioning from December 1.
The notification states that it is considered necessary to constitute a “cyber police station” in every notified police district for investigation and investigation of cases relating to cyber crime.
“The Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, in order to facilitate the extension of better police assistance to the public, is hereby directed and declared to have Cyber Police Stations at East, North-East, South, South-East, South-West, West , Outer, Central, North, North West, Shahdara, Rohini, New Delhi, Dwarka and Outer North will have Cyber Police Stations in each of the notified fifteen police districts of Delhi from the date of issue of this notification.
Cyber Police Stations shall function from the place mentioned in Schedule-A or from any other place/places to be shifted in future from the date of issue of this notification.
Cyber Police Stations shall have jurisdiction over the entire Police District for which Cyber Police Station is being notified and shall be effective from the date of issue of this notification.
As per Schedule-A, the Cyber Police Station in East District will be located at Pandav Nagar Police Station and in Northeast District, it will be located at Jyoti Nagar Police Station.
Similarly, in the South district, its location is at Saket police station, in the south-east at Badarpur police station, in the south-west at Vasant Vihar police station, in the west at Hari Nagar police station and in the outer district’s Paschim Vihar West police station. Will happen. ,
Cyber police stations in Central, North, North West, Shahdara, Rohini, New Delhi, Dwarka and Outer North districts will be located at Kamala Market. Maurice Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Shahdara, Buddha Vihar, Mandir Marg, Dwarka North and Samaypur Badli/ Bawana Police Station respectively, stated in the notification.
Delhi Police has a separate unit for cyber crimes called Cyber Prevention Awareness Detection Unit (CyPAD) which functions under a special cell. Each district also has specialized cyber cells. CyPAD has been renamed as Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO).
Officials said the cyber police station would report directly to the district deputy commissioner of police. The police stations will work in collaboration with the IFSC unit of Delhi Police.
During the annual press conference in February, Delhi Police had released data showing that from March to May 2020, when restrictions were in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there was a rise in cases related to cyber crimes. It rose from about 2,000 such cases in March to over 4,000 in May.
