DA Hike Alert: The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday said that it has increased dearness allowance (DA) for its employees. DA has been increased from 6 per cent to 28 per cent for employees covered under 7th Pay Commission and from 15 per cent to 189 per cent for employees covered under 6th Pay Commission. According to an official notification, the hike is effective from August 1, 2022.
As per the notification, state government employees were getting 22 per cent dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission and 174 per cent under the 6th Pay Commission from May 2022.
The finance department of the state government said in the notification that the revised DA would be paid from August 1, 2022. “DA will be calculated on the basis of basic pay. This will not include special allowance and personal allowance.
If the DA amount is 50 paise or more, the amount will be rounded off to the higher rupee. An amount less than 50 paise will be spared.
An official told PTI that at least 3.8 lakh state government employees will benefit from this hike.
Last month, a union of state government officers and employees went on a five-day strike over their various demands, including an increase in house rent allowance and dearness allowance.
It was announced to go on strike again from 22 August for their demands. Officials said that on August 13, a delegation of Chhattisgarh Employees Officers Federation (CAKM) had met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who had agreed to increase the DA by 6 per cent.
He said that the Chief Minister had also assured that he would consider the demand for increasing HRA on the basis of 7th Pay Commission.
Dissatisfied with the 6 per cent hike, CAKM regional convener Kamal Verma said that the state employees had demanded 34 per cent DA and HRA as per the Seventh Pay Commission, but both these demands have not been fulfilled. Even the 6 per cent hike has been made effective from August, when it should have been given from July 2020, he said, according to a PTI report.
“As per our earlier announcement, we will go on an indefinite strike from August 22,” Verma said.
