Dalmia Bharat, Birla Corp incentive demand price of Rs 430CR at risk after brainstorming of the Government of Bengal

Kolkata, June 9 (PTI) two major companies, Dalmia Bharat Limited and Birla Corporation said that after abolishing several industrial subsidy schemes in 2025, about Rs 430 crore can be promised in the encouragement of the state.

An official of Dalmia Cement (India) Limited (DCBL), a fulfillment company in India, India’s full-ridden subsidiary, said it should have been received with 8 percent interest along with Rs 236.32 crore as well as ‘WB State Support for Industries Scheme 2013’.

Dalmia Bharat Paschim operates a cement plant with a capacity of four million tonnes in Paschim Midnapur district.

Another affected firm Birla Corporation Limited revealed that it was to receive Rs 55.66 crore in Industrial Publicity Assistance (IPA), which was already approved by the West Bengal State Industrial Development Corporation (WBSIDC). Additionally, the company has an outstanding claim of Rs 138.58 crore.

Both companies are afraid that these incentives may be in danger due to the implementation of the cancellation Act.

A Dalmia India official said, “This law is likely to adversely affect the order of the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court,” an oatmeal India official said the company is evaluating all legal options to protect its rights.

Officials of the two companies said that they are reviewing the legal validity of the Act and the retrospective nature and are considering all the way, including the challenges of the court.

The West Bengal government said in March that it had canceled eight incentive schemes for heavy industries launched during the period of 1993-2013, and would formulate a modern plan to encourage the establishment of industrial units.

An industry room officer, who was quoted, said that these are just two cases and expected to be included in more list.

During a previous discussion on West Bengal incentive schemes and reconstruction of obligations in the nature of the grant and encouragement bill, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the situation had changed considerably in the last 20-25 years and some encourages introduced by the predecessor left-wing government had become “irrelevant” and were happening.

“Now, various tasks are being done on AI technology. Many new ideas and approaches have been added to the industry. Therefore, a new policy is being introduced with the opinion of all the relatives,” Banerjee said. A committee was also established in this regard. PTI BSM NN
