In footage from Cawthorne’s January 8 traffic stop, he can be seen driving a white Dodge Challenger just before 6:30 p.m. on US-74 in Polk County, North Carolina.
After a short chase by the officer, Cawthorne pulls the vehicle over the grassy shoulder of a two-lane road.
Coming near the driver’s side window, the officer says, ‘I am stopping you, the reason for this is only your speed. ‘Do you have your driving license?’
‘No sir, I don’t have my wallet,’ answers Cawthorne.
Driving without a license is a Class 3 offense in the state of North Carolina, and carries a maximum sentence of 20 days in prison.
The officer also asks Cavthorne if he is the registered owner of the vehicle, though his answer is drowned out by road noise. The officer later returns to say that the car is in fact registered with the Congressman’s father – to which he replies, ‘Is it really there?’
Talks continue with the officer who is telling Cawthorne to slow down and always try to take his license easy.
He also advises Cawthorne about his upcoming court date of January 4 and asks, ‘You have any questions about the Citation?’
‘No sir, is this something I can just go in and pay for?’ He answers.
The officer ends by telling Cawthorne that he must appear in person for the court date.

‘Sexual perversion is going on in Washington… Like a young boy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70, I see all these people – a lot of them I’ve seen in my lifetime.. Then all of a sudden you ‘Invited to be like, ‘Okay, we’re going to have sex in one of our houses. You should come,’ like, what did you tell me to come over now?
