English football icon Beckham, appearing in a promotional video for Qatar 2022, was reprimanded by Dr Nass Mohamed, Qatar’s first openly gay man, for his dubious attitude towards the LGBT+ community. He said Beckham’s PR work does not represent an accurate image of the nation and ignores the painful experiences of the community.

David Beckham faced severe criticism for his promotional video in Qatar before FIFA World cup.

The former England football team captain has been accused of “stamping hope” for the LGBTQI community in the World Cup promotional work. Dr Nass Mohamed, who recently became the first openly gay man in Qatar, slammed Beckham for his dubious approach to the LGBT+ community.

Dr Mohamed wrote in his open letter to Beckham that the former Manchester United midfielder was guilty of making money and looking the other way. He also urged Beckham to raise his voice against injustice. The letter was reportedly written last month. It is also the first public criticism of Beckham by a Qatari homosexual.

“You are stamping hope for the LGBT community in Qatar. You show up… take the money and look the other way. Plus, you send a message that there is really no way to escape our current oppression and live independently.” There is no chance,” Dr Mohamed wrote in the letter obtained by The Independent.

Dr Mohamed said Beckham’s PR work for Qatar does not represent an accurate image of the nation and ignores the harrowing experiences of the LGBTQ+ community.

The report claimed that Beckham was paid a substantial amount to promote Qatar and the FIFA World Cup. Beckham recently featured in an ad while riding a motorcycle in Doha.
