While the Mahotsav will begin by the end of this month, the award winners of various categories were announced on September 7.

In the Best Music Director segment, Mishra was nominated for “Blindfold” with Taras Drone and Esmail Moncef for “Charcoal”.

Mishra said winning the Best Music Director trophy is a “huge honour” for the entire team of the film.

“We don’t work for awards, but if someone gets one, that recognition goes to the entire team. I am thankful to the producer of the film, Hari Vishwanath. He wanted me to compose music for ‘Bansuri: The Flute’.”

Mishra has previously worked with directors such as Govind Nihalani, Mrinal Sen, Rituparno Ghosh, Aparna Sen, Hari Vishwanath, Bhavna Talwar, Mahreen Jabbar, Atou Ghosh and Academy Award winner Florian Gallenberger.

His tunes in films such as “Chokher Bali”, “Raincoat”, “Dharam”, “Hazar Chaurasi Ki Maa”, “Yaadein In March”, “Amar Bhuban”, “Ramchand Pakistani” and “Mayurakshi” have earned him appreciation.

“Bansuri: The Flute” is Viswanath’s second feature film, whose directorial debut “Radiopetty” was the first Tamil film to win the Audience Award Best Film in an official competition at the 2015 Busan International Film Festival.

The film starred Anurag Kashyap, Rituparna Sengupta and Upendra Limaye in lead roles and was released theatrically in April this year.
