bollywood star Deepika Padukone On Thursday, intimacy on screen is not an easy task and he credited filmmaker Shakun Batra for creating a safe environment on the sets of his latest film “Gehraiyaan”. Presented as a drama about complex modern relationships, “Depheyan” also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, ananya pandey And have patience.
At the film’s virtual trailer event, Padukone was praising Batra for creating a safe and secure environment, especially for the intimate scenes of the film. “Shakun comforts me and all of us, you feel safe and secure because intimacy is not easy. It is not something we have ever experienced or discovered in Indian cinema before in this film. So, let’s go down That path of intimacy and vulnerability is possible when you know the director isn’t doing it for the eyes.”
“Because this is where the characters come from, their experience and journey. This is possible only when you feel safe and secure in the environment,” Padukone told reporters. For the first time in a big Bollywood film, the makers of the film have chosen the filmmaker. Dar Gai will work as Intimacy Director.
The 36-year-old actress said that “Gehraiyaan” is a raw film and she had to delve deep into her real-life experiences to play the role of Alisha. “I want to say bold but I don’t want to say bold (because) the way we understood bold in our films. I would say raw. This character is so much more raw and real than some of the other characters, just emotionally, whole Kind of stripped down, naked, vulnerable, and to be able to do it on screen, it had to come from a deep place.
“That’s not to say I haven’t experienced something like this before, but to the extent that I really had to dig in and visit places that haven’t been a pleasant experience from my own life as well as deal with mental health issues. So, all that put together, it came from a deeper place,” he added.
When asked how he decided to cast Dar Guy as the film’s intimacy director, Batra said that he believes intimacy is a very specialized field and needs to be supervised just like choreography and action. An expert is required.
“You have to create an environment where actors feel confident, where you have thought everything and prepare as much as you do for a song or an action sequence.” The ‘Kapoor & Sons’ filmmaker said he has read how intimacy directors play an important role in film making in the West.
“There’s a process … I thought we should optimize those things. My effort was to create a system where everyone is comfortable. Throughout this film, whenever we had a crew like a cameraman, we wanted to understand his approach towards intimacy,” Batra said.
“We were treating intimacy like a story and we wanted to see it like a character. So, there was a need for preparation and detail. It was important that we had an intimacy director. And Dar Guy did a lot in the film. It’s important to give them the same respect we all give to HODs.”
Praising Padukone, Batra said that he was amazed to see the Bollywood star’s hunger and dedication towards the film. “For me, at this stage of my career, it was amazing to see him try to do such challenging characters. I can’t watch this film without him, can’t watch this film with anyone else.
I am thankful that we did that.”
