Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived at the Mohanbari airport in Dibrugarh on Monday on a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh amid tensions along the border between India and China. On Tuesday, Singh will visit Boleng in Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district, where he will inaugurate the strategically important Siam Bridge.
According to a statement issued by the Defense Ministry, Singh will also virtually inaugurate 27 other projects of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) along with the release of the BRO Vision and New Tech Handbook. After this he will interact with the local people.
Significantly, the BRO has constructed a total of 3,097 km of roads in Arunachal Pradesh in the last five years, the government informed Parliament during the recently held winter session.
This will be the Defense Minister’s first visit to Arunachal Pradesh after the recent skirmish between Indian and Chinese security forces in Tawang sector.
