The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government will convene a three-day assembly session from January 16 amid its ongoing tussle with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, according to a bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat on Monday.
The fourth part of the third session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi will meet on January 16 at 11 am, the bulletin read, quoting news agency PTI.
It said, “The meeting of the Legislative Assembly has been tentatively fixed for January 16, 17 and 18. The meeting of the House may be extended considering the exigencies of business.”
Members have been requested to attend the assembly session by wearing face masks in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As per an instruction from the Speaker, members will be allowed to give notice under Rule 280 to raise issues in the House.
Sources said that during the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) meeting on Friday, the issue of ruckus and the role of the LG in it may come up for discussion in the session.
AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have questioned and criticized the LG’s decisions regarding the appointment of presiding officers and aldermen in the MCD as well as Haj committee members.
CM Kejriwal has also questioned the LG for “ignoring and neglecting” the elected government and interfering in governance as the “administrator” of the city.
The LG has invited the Chief Minister for a meeting to discuss various issues including provisions for governance in the national capital.
