Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express collided with a cement pole placed on the track, derailed

Police officials said on January 15 that the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express train collided with a cement pole which was allegedly placed by some miscreants on the railway track near Valsad in south Gujarat, though no passenger was injured.

Police suspect that the incident, which took place around 7.10 pm on January 14, was an attempt to derail a Delhi-bound train. He has registered a case in this regard.

“Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express train collided with a cement pole placed on the railway track near Atul station near Valsad. The pole went down the track after being hit by the train. The incident did not affect the train. It went ahead and no passenger was hurt. The loco pilot immediately informed the Atul railway station personnel,” said an officer from Valsad rural police station.

On receiving the information, top officials of the police and railways reached the spot.

Surat IG Range Rajkumar Pandian told reporters, “Some miscreants had put a cement pole on the track. The train collided with the pillar, following which the train manager immediately informed the local station master.”

It appeared to be a case of an attempt to derail the train, he said, adding that the police was probing the matter.

Valsad Rural Police Officer said that an FIR has been registered at Valsad Rural Police Station against unidentified miscreants and efforts are on to nab the culprit using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
