Delhi COVID-19 positivity rate around 20%; The pandemic isn’t over yet, LG . They say

New Delhi: In the wake of the recent spurt in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena on Tuesday warned that the pandemic is not over and appealed to people to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour. Delhi LG said, “We are witnessing increase in cases of COVID19 infection, consistent high positivity and re-infection.”

“It is essential that we realize that the pandemic is not over. I appeal to all to strictly follow the COVID-appropriate behaviour. We cannot afford to let our guards down,” he said in a tweet.



Delhi recorded 917 new Covid-19 cases and 3 deaths on Tuesday. According to the data shared by the health department, the COVID positivity rate increased to 19.20 per cent.


Delhi recorded 1,227 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the death toll to eight with a positivity rate of 14.57 per cent, according to health department data. A rise in the COVID-19 cases is being reported for the last ten days as the city recorded over 2,000 cases daily for ten consecutive days.

Delhi reported 2,162 COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Sunday and 2,031 cases on Saturday. In the last 24 hours, 15,040 have been cured in the country, taking the total number of people who have recovered from the infection to 4,36,38,844. Right now the recovery rate is 98.56 percent.

According to the Health Ministry, the country’s daily positivity rate is 4.15 percent, while its weekly positivity rate is 4.79 percent. As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines.

In the new phase of Universalization of COVID19 Vaccination Campaign, the Central Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the States and UTs.
