The Delhi government on Wednesday increased the monthly wages of unskilled workers from Rs 16,506 to Rs 16,792 per month, while increasing the dearness allowance for daily wage workers.
Similarly, the salary of semi-skilled workers has been increased from Rs 18,187 to Rs 18,499 per month and for skilled workers from Rs 20,019 to Rs 20,357 per month.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said, “Amidst rising inflation, this is a big step in the interest of the working class. The Delhi government has increased the dearness allowance for the unskilled working class in the capital. “
The move will benefit unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and other workers in all scheduled employment under the aegis of Delhi government. He said that this order would also benefit clerical and supervisory jobs.
Sisodia said those working on minimum wages in the unorganized sector should also get the benefit of dearness allowance, which is usually given to state and central government employees.
He said, “The minimum wage in Delhi is the highest as compared to any other state. The Delhi government is continuously revising the dearness allowance every 6 months to give relief from dearness to all the workers of Delhi.”
