Delhi HC raps Tihar over gangster Tillu Tajpuria’s jail killing, ‘completely unacceptable…’

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday pulled up the Tihar Jail authorities for not being able to prevent the killing of gangster Tillu Tajpuria inside the prison even though the crime was captured on closed-circuit cameras.

This also questioned the officers On the recovery of four knives from Tihar, where the gangster was stabbed to death on May 2.

Terming it as a “completely unacceptable situation”, the court sought reply from the jail authorities as to what action was taken to prevent the murder of the 33-year-old.

Scenes from that day show Tejpuria being brutally stabbed by three rival gang members, who break him out of his cell.

Those killers can be seen that day after 6 a.m. stabbing her several times and leaving her bleeding on the ground.

The footage shows no officer coming to Tejpuria’s aid, as did none of the inmates.

The gangster accused of the shootout in Rohini court can be seen there, but no one could stop the attackers.

Gangster Tillu Tajpuria, accused in Delhi’s Rohini Court shootout, was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Justice Jasmeet Singh went through the CCTV footage and said he “fails to understand” why the authorities did not take any action if the entire incident was caught on CCTV.

Singh sought a reply from the Director General of Tihar Jails within a week and ordered a report indicating the accountability of jail officials responsible for the lapse. The judge also asked the jail superintendent to remain present in the court on May 25, the next date of hearing.

The court was hearing a plea filed by the gangster’s father and brother, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder and security for them.
