Polling in the 250-ward MCD will be held on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7.
By morning, AAP, BJP and Congress had released the names of most of the candidates. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on November 16, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 19.
28 nominations were filed on Friday. Of these, twenty independents and eight were filed by leaders of four political parties, including five leaders of the BSP, the official said. Officials said that since no nomination papers were received by the returning officers on November 12-13 due to a public holiday, there is likely to be a rush of nominations on November 14.
In view of this, the State Election Commission has directed all observers, district election officers, senior police officers and returning officers to ensure adequate arrangements.
