New Delhi Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials informed on Saturday that, from June 6, payment to the civic body will have to be addressed only to the Commissioner of MCD.
The three municipal corporations of Delhi were formally amalgamated on May 22 with IAS officers Ashwini Kumar and Gyanesh Bharti Taking charge as the special officer and commissioner of the new municipal body respectively.
The MCD official said that checks or demand drafts (DDs) deposited in the name of commissioners of the erstwhile three municipal corporations were being accepted earlier.

During the tenure of Sheila Dikshit as Chief Minister in 2012, the MCD was divided into three parts. It is now reunited by merging three civic bodies – North, South and East Municipal Corporations or NDMC, SDMC and EDMC.
“The erstwhile SDMC was successfully running an employee payroll system in all its four zones. The same system will be extended to the remaining eight zones. With this separate Zonal Income Accounts have been opened in the zones for easy reconciliation and record. The amount collected in These accounts will be transferred General Accounts of the CommissionerMCD on weekly basis,” MCD had said.
In a statement on Saturday, the MCD said, checks or demand drafts relating to payments are to be deposited in the name of Commissioner of MCD only, and will not be accepted, if deposited in any other name.
The payroll system of the erstwhile South Delhi Municipal Corporation is to be extended to other areas of the re-integrated MCD, the civic body said on Friday.
Municipal Commissioner of Delhi Gyanesh Bharti has directed the Finance Department to open “new bank accounts” and payment gateways of various departments, the MCD said on Friday.
With the approval of the MCD commissioner, bank accounts have been opened for each payment gateway and the same has been reported to the IT department for integration. This will help in easy identification and reconciliation of income under various heads of accounts, it said.
