Under the new excise policy of the Delhi government, provisional P-10 license will not be required for serving liquor in licensed premises of banquet halls, farm-houses, motels and similar places at weddings, parties and other such events.
The P-10 license requirement will be replaced by the L-38 license for one year on payment of a fee ranging from Rs 5-15 lakh depending on the size of the licensed premises.
The Excise Department of Delhi Government has issued terms and conditions for the applicants of L-38 license under the New Excise Policy 2021-22.
In a note issued on Tuesday, the Excise Commissioner said, “Any event held at these venues after obtaining the annual license will not require a separate P-10 license. -l-) 38) to serve liquor on its premises.”
However, the L-38 licensee will issue a letter mentioning the date of the event, number of guests and such other details so that they can purchase liquor from the licensed source in Delhi.
As per the note, the host of the event will produce the purchase invoice on demand by the excise officials.
As per the terms and conditions specified in the note, the premises including farm houses, banquet halls, motels and other party venues with L-38 license shall be permitted to host any kind of entertainment activities such as live singing performances by professionals, dance, Karaoke and live bands.
The Licensee shall not possess, distribute or sell any advertising material likely or intended to promote the sale or consumption of alcohol. Also, alcohol will not be served to any underage person.
The P-10 license was required to serve alcohol in a specific premises at any party, ceremony, wedding and other such events.
In a circular issued by the Excise Department last month, it was said that P-10 permit can be applied for seven days before the ceremony or party and the applicant can buy liquor from six shops. It has been said in the circular that the relaxation will be applicable till November 30.
