The senior SDMC official also said that the civic agency has made elaborate arrangements including setting up separate registration counters, waiting rooms, queues, dedicated laboratory testing facilities in its hospitals and health centers for COVID patients.
Officials said that an order in this regard has also been issued by the civic body.
“Senior citizens visiting our health units should attend on priority as they are the most vulnerable group of people. non covid patients Medicines for at least one month should be issued, especially for those suffering from chronic diseases, visiting SDMC hospitals and dispensaries,” the SDMC said.
He said that if there is a sudden spike in Covid cases, the elderly are more likely to get infected due to their low immunity.
The Delhi government’s health department on Saturday said 1,607 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in the city, with two people succumbing to the virus. The positivity rate was 5.28%.

Officials said an advisory has been issued to refer patients suspected of heavy virus infection to higher tertiary care nodal hospitals for more care and treatment.
Officials said the civic agency has also appointed a nodal officer in each hospital to ensure cleanliness, infection prevention and proper management of biomedical waste.
