Delhi: Today there is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm. Know the complete weather forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast said that Delhi is likely to receive moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers on Wednesday. IMD said, “Yellow alert has been issued for Delhi today, the sky will be generally cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers likely.”

Light rain lashed parts of the national capital yesterday, giving people some respite from the sultry weather. However, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

The maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 31 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

According to the weather forecast agency, during the next five days, Delhi Moderate rain and thundershowers will continue till July 25. Incessant rains will result in minor traffic disruption and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, several other Indian states are battling with floods and landslides due to incessant rains. In Uttarakhand, rains caused landslides on various roads, blocking the Rishikesh-Kedarnath highway and 89 rural roads.

On the other hand, two people are feared dead in Rajasthan after Mahi Erao river was washed away in strong currents amid heavy rains in Pratapgarh district of the state.

A flood-like situation has prevailed in three districts of Maharashtra, while the death toll in the incidents related to June 1 has risen to 105 in the state. The State Disaster Management Department said in a report that though moderate rains continued over most parts of Maharashtra, Ratnagiri, Gadchiroli and Wardha districts are witnessing a flood-like situation due to inundation of rivers.

Heavy rains are also continuing in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. In Kerala, water in six dams is at Red Alert level and in one at Orange Alert level. These include Ponmudi, Kallarkutty, Erattayar, and Lower Periyar in Idukki, Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode and Moozhiyar in Pathanamthitta districts of the state. While an orange alert was declared at Poringalkuthu dam in Thrissur.

According to the IMD forecast, heavy rains are likely to continue over some states including Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next few days.

IMD Weather Predictions:

Very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh on July 20.

Today (July 20) there is a possibility of heavy rain in Coastal Karnataka and East Madhya Pradesh also. Rain is likely over West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala till July 22.
