Delhi University (DU) has released a curriculum framework for the undergraduate courses offered in the university. The university said the framework is in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP). The released framework is in draft mode and is subject to improvement. DU has sought suggestions on the draft from all stakeholders, especially teachers, students, academics and parents. The last date for sending suggestions is January 30 at 11:59 PM.

The university had tried to revise the syllabus of all its undergraduate courses in 2019 as well as per the UGC guidelines. The university had said that it is aligning the curriculum with the learning outcome-based guidelines of UG. However, the move faced a lot of criticism from the university’s faculty and other academics.

The university is bringing many changes this year. DU proposes to make all undergraduate courses four years. The four-year undergraduate program (FYUP) will allow students multiple entry and exit options. The UGC has mandated all central universities to implement Academic Bank of Credit (ABC), which allows students to store the credits obtained in a course and resume studies from wherever they left off. Is.

The university had first introduced FYUP in 2013, but withdrew after protests from students and teachers. While academics still claim that adding extra years makes degree programs costly, the new vice-chancellor of the university said the implementation will be different this time.

Delhi University is also considering its admission criteria based on the cut-off to the entrance test. DU Central University will offer admission through Common Entrance Test (CUCET). The move has also faced backlash from some sections.
