New Delhi Delhi Jal Board informed on Thursday that water supply in many parts of the national capital Delhi will remain affected on Friday, June 10 as well.
The board held Haryana responsible for the inconvenience due to less water being released into the Yamuna.
Water supply has been affected due to water scarcity in many parts of Delhi. Wazirabad Pond and reduction in the release of raw water by Haryana into the Yamuna River.
The water level in Wazirabad pond is 668.7 feet as against the normal 674.5 feet. Water supply from Haryana through Carrier Lined Canal (CLC) and Delhi Sub Branch (DSB) is also fluctuating, the utility said on Thursday.
“Besides, two canals have abnormal floating material, which has affected water production at Haiderpur Phase I and II, Bawana, Nangloi, Dwarka WTP,” an official said.
According to the Delhi Jal Board, operations have been affected in Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla. water treatment plant, Due to this, water supply will be affected till the water level of the pond in Delhi becomes normal.
“Operations are already affected in Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla WTPs. Water supply will remain affected till the situation improves.
The DJB said water would be available under low pressure in Northeast Delhi, West Delhi, North Delhi, Central Delhi, South Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Council areas including Delhi Cantonment.
Delhi requires around 1,200 MGD of water, while DJB supplies around 950 MGD.
Haryana supplies a total of 610 million gallons of water a day to Delhi through two canals – CLC (368 MGD) and DSB (177) – and Yamuna (65 MGD).
Water is supplied to CLC and DSB from Hathini Kund through Munak Canal and Bhakra Beas Management Board. In addition, Delhi receives 253 MGD from Uttar Pradesh through the Upper Ganga Canal, and 90 MGD from wells and tube wells installed across the city.
