The Delhi government will charge only Rs 2,500 for installing personal chargers for light electric vehicles, including two and three wheelers, at malls, apartments, hospitals and such other places in the city. Launching the Single Window facility, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot announced that consumers can avail the benefits by visiting the respective DISCOM portal or calling the helpline numbers for setting up of private charging stations. Applicants can visit the portal and view the trusted Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers that have been listed by the Govt. They can compare the price of these chargers and order them online or through a phone call.

The Delhi government is providing a subsidy of Rs 6,000 to the first 30,000 applicants for charging stations, taking the effective cost of each charger to around Rs 2,500. Gehlot said in a press release that the incentives provided by the Delhi government will reduce the cost of chargers by up to 70 percent. He assured that the installation and operation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charger would be completed within seven working days of submission of application. Applicants can opt for a new electricity connection (including pre-paid meter) or continue with the existing connection to avail the benefit of lower EV tariff.

“Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government is spearheading Delhi’s journey to be the EV capital of India. The increased access to charging infrastructure will remove any doubts and uncertainties before purchasing an EV,” he said.

Gehlot said, “For the first time in India such a convenient process for EV charger installation has been developed and with their widespread installation, Delhi will become the best city in the world in terms of access to EV charging points.” The minister said, “Anyone can now install a personal EV charger at a connection cost of only Rs 2,500. We have created an enabling environment, which will ensure that more and more electric vehicles ply on the roads of Delhi in the times to come. “

Delhi government will be the first to introduce LEV AC chargers compliant with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) 2021 charging standards.

The single-window portal allows the applicant to schedule the installation as per his/her convenience. They can avail subsidy of up to Rs 6,000 for a lightweight EV charger and pay the rest amount (Rs 2,500). The space requirement for the installation of the EV charger is minimal. Requires only one square foot for LEV AC and two square feet for AC 001, DC-001 can be installed on a land of two square meter area and two meter height. Both the LEV AC charger and the AC 001 charger are wall-mounted.

The Delhi government will be the first to introduce LEV AC chargers compliant with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) 2021 charging standards within two months of its official notification, a statement from the Transport Department said. Both these chargers are mainly used to charge two wheelers and three wheelers. The DC 001 charging standard is primarily used for e-cars used by fleet operators.
