In the massive fire that broke out in a 4-storey building near Delhi’s Mundka metro station yesterday, out of 27 bodies recovered till Saturday afternoon, only 7 have been identified. Officials at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, from where the body and the injured were taken, said family members were still searching for the missing.
Dr SK Arora, MS, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital told news agency ANI, “We found 27 bodies. All were badly burnt and burnt. Of these, 7 bodies have been identified. The relatives are still coming for the identification process. At least 7 other families are searching for their members among the dead bodies.”

A search operation was launched by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday night soon after the incident.
Sameer Sharma, DCP Outer District, informed news agency PTI.rescue operation is on. NDRF is probing whether there are any more bodies, 27 bodies have been recovered so far, but 25 of them have not been identified. The forensic team will examine the DNA samples while 27-28 missing complaints have been registered.”
Regarding searches in Mundka fire incident, another official indicated that it would continue for the next 3 to 4 hours. NDRF Assistant Commandant Vikas Saini said, “The search operation is on continuously. We have found small parts of the bodies on the second floor.”
A total of 27 people and 12 people were injured in the fire yesterday. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District) Sameer Sharma, a total of 50 people have been rescued so far.
