Dell at Rosette House: a new trending spot in the city to drink and eat in style

As they say, the best food prevents conversation. Even the juiciest news or the most important confession is stoked: you stop, swallow, and savor it. This happened to me when I went to DEL at Roseate House, New Delhi. The experience begins with a warm welcome when a doorman opens the door as you approach, followed by a team of smiling faces as you step into the restaurant. A long hall with square tables, some with comfy corner bays where it’s a bit quiet yet quite atmospheric. The entire restaurant seems to be filled with loyal diners – families eating fruit ice cream, corporate drinking glasses of wine, secret dates in cozy corners – who clearly know this is a good thing.

The restaurant’s menu has an eclectic and interesting selection of items to offer. The menu has been designed by Executive Chef Gagandeep Singh Bedi, and flourishes with interesting flavor combinations. We started with arugula salad, pomegranate and warm goat cheese and SOI 7 satay (chicken). What I loved most about the salad was the combination of warm goat cheese and arugula leaves with walnuts and pomegranates – refreshing and will ignite your appetite. The chicken satay served with peanut sauce was equally good—a single piece of chicken slaw was enough for me to become a fan of it. Next, to my surprise, Chef Gagandeep sent one of my favorite recipes from the Italian kitchen—gnocchi alla sorentina, and I couldn’t wait to dig in. It was well prepared and had filling brownie points for the sauce! (For those without, gnocchi is a Northern Italian dish—a simple bake of potato dumplings, cheese, and tomato sauce.)

I followed this with a plate of spiced avocado—a maki roll made with cucumber, avocado, tanuki and spicy mayo—the eye-catcher, instantly captivated me with its colorful pattern, and I admit, it tasted great. In this case also it was as per my expectation. From the Indian menu, I picked up some Dahi Kebabs, Murg Makhanwala (Butter Chicken), Guncha-O-Keema (Broccoli and Cauliflower Flour tossed with Onion, Sweet Pepper and Tomato) and Dal-E-Dhungar (Boiled with Butter) black lentils). cream). Indian food satisfies to my heart’s content. With the rich flavor of butter and tomatoes, Murg Makhanwala was a stellar dish from the Indian menu.

DEL’s desserts are suitably sweet. I had flourless chocolate cake – which was just as light and quite satisfying. From the classics, I would recommend Kesari Rasmalai – an absolute delight. Happy ending to a wonderful evening.

About Shubham BhatnagarYou can often find Shubham sampling exotic foods and sipping a glass of wine at a small authentic Chinese or Italian restaurant, but he will gulp down a plate of hot samosas with equal enthusiasm. However, his love for home cooked food is liked by all.
