Greater Noida: The villagers affected by the second phase of Noida airport have submitted their report to the district administration after evaluating the social impact assessment report. In addition to what was offered to the villagers in the first phase, the group has raised six demands.
These villagers have demanded the state government to give ‘just and fair’ compensation to the displaced families. The team that conducted the SIA study did so after a copy of the report was handed over to the members of the government-appointed multi-disciplinary evaluation committee on November 20.
A member of the evaluation committee on Monday Ranhera VillageKunwarpal Singh submitted his report to the district administration.
“Those who are willing to leave their ancestral land and occupation need to be given better treatment than was offered to the affected population in the first phase. Our means of livelihood should be increased. The Land Acquisition Act talks of fair compensation. But the authorities in Noida are offering minimum compensation to the families keeping in mind the provisions. This attitude needs to be changed from day one,” Singh said.
The villagers demanded that jewaro The Bangar township, where the government plans to rehabilitate them, is divided into three parts. He has said that while the first part of the settlement should be kept for residential purposes, the second part should be reserved for cattle rearing. They want a vendor or commercial zone to be created in the area.
There is a need to provide equal opportunities to those running private clinics, workshops for repair of home appliances, motor vehicle garages, dairy farms, coaching and skill development institutes and kirana stores.
“We will ask the district administration to constitute a task force for holistic education of children and graduates. officers and representatives of Noida International Airport Ltd., Zurich AG, District Administration and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority to be made members of the task force. What is the point of giving land for such a big project without securing the future of our children?” Hemraj Kaushik, a villager of Kureb asked.
Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition) Balram Singh said that several demands have been mentioned in the SIA report. “Those who have not been included will be taken into account,” the official said.
