Development of villages necessary to achieve the goal of making India a $5 trillion economy: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that development of villages is necessary to achieve the target of making India A “five trillion dollar economy”. “I firmly believe that development of the country is not possible without the development of villages,” Shah said while addressing the 41st convocation of the Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) in Gujarat here.

During the function more than 250 students obtained management degree in rural management. The Union Minister said, “Mahatma Gandhi had said that the soul of the country is in our villages and I have full faith.” He said, “If the villages are prosperous, self-reliant and with good facilities, then the country will prosper. This will help realize the dream of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and make India a five trillion dollar economy.”

Shah said that he is excited to see that so many students are passing out from IRMA and will work for rural development and management. “You will help to realize the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi. You can work for your personal development, but you also have to take oath today when you are passing out that you will also work for the development of our rural areas. ” Union Minister said. He listed the works done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for rural development.

Addressing the function, Shah said that rural managers will play an important role in rural development. He said that the Modi government set up the Ministry of Cooperation, which would help in achieving rural development.

IRMA President Dilip Rath said his institute, which is shaping managers to run cooperative movements in villages, is in the best position to be declared a National Institute of Excellence. He said that IRMA has already given a report to the government in this regard.
