when the first season of netflix little things Premiered in 2016, it was just about that; Visible little things that make a modern affair. But as the show spread into two more series, it took a dichotomous turn. It was no longer about the little things, but about the heavily invisible ones that put a long-term commitment on pause. Season three grapples with loaded constructions like home ideas, aspirations, and goals that don’t feature a companion.
Sehgal, who created the show and wrote the first three seasons, says that the fourth and final season, which will premiere on October 15, follows this logical progression: “It’s about overcoming hiccups, how they are no longer a single entity. Huh. They have stopped questioning the idea of love.”
Palkar says that the entire team has grown with the show, “There is a sense of certainty now as Dhruv and Kavya and we as actors. We all grew up together.”
Both the actors say that this is the right time to end the show. “It should not be a point where everyone gets bored of it. Right now, it is still healthy. So we are ending it on a high note,” says Sehgal.
all about connections
Season 3 considered the relationship with home and parents, which made Palkar more attached to his character. “I experienced him more closely because I’m in the same situation with my parents now. This feeling of wanting to be with my parents as they grew up; I realized that things are not the same.”
Sehgal says his engagement and approach towards the characters has remained the same: “I have always wanted to write them with empathy and honesty. The grammar of screenwriting has changed, but the basic essence remains the same.”
shooting in pandemic
final season of little things The entirety was shot between the first and second wave of the pandemic. The shoot included adherence to a bubble, weekly testing protocol and strict mask mandates.
Palkar says that shooting during the pandemic brought everyone closer, “We had no choice. We couldn’t go out. We were scared, but it also brought us closer.”
Sehgal has spoken on several occasions about how he deals with anxiety. During the pandemic, he says he focused on the little things. “Both, shows and everyday little things like making Dal rice. I was focusing on small wins and that helped me. (Smile)
On a serious note, he adds, “Oh, my cat too. She was my favorite therapist. She took care of me!”
Future
From playing the lead role in web series, Palkar’s gossip is reminiscent of his many on-screen appearances girl in town for road trip drama Caravan. “When I started my journey, all the characters I played were the same. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know more than that, because I haven’t explored any further than that. But I want to challenge myself; I will choose wisely to choose different roles.”
She is currently working on her Telugu debut film which is a remake of oh my kadvule, a recent Kollywood hit.
Dhruv is currently working in two shows, which are still in their initial stages. He has worked in many aspects of filmmaking such as acting and editing, but he loves writing. “Because I can be lonely,” he laughs. “Writing is where I connect with characters, with the world, and with myself. It puts me in a good place. ”
