Diarrhea prevention campaign launched Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: The health department on Monday launched a two-week long diarrhea prevention campaign for children.
According to the Deputy Director of Health Services Dr P Aruna10% of children under the age of five suffer from diarrhea every year. “About one lakh children in that category die due to the disorder. The central government has advised health departments to organize intensive diarrhea camps,” she said.
Diarrhea prevention and screening camps will be organized in Anganwadi centers, urban health centers, primary health centers and government hospitals across the district till July 30. Children will be given oral rehydration salt.ORS) in the camps.
The department plans to screen 3.37 lakh children this year. The officials urged the parents to make use of the camps to get their children tested for diarrhea and collect ORS pouches.
